The Biggest Threat to the Steambox is Apple

Gabe Newell, the popular head of gaming firm Valve has shed more light on the much rumoured Steambox, and what he thinks will be its biggest competitor.

“The biggest challenge, I don’t think is from the consoles,” Newell said. “I think the biggest challenge is that Apple moves on the living room before the PC industry sort of gets its act together.”

Apple’s much rumoured TV will likely be powered by the same processors and graphics chips found in the iPhone and iPad, which don’t compromise in their ability. Apple’s TV will be a games console, however it works, and however it’s marketed. But can you really imagine a hardcore gamer going out and buying a TV to replace their console or gaming computer? No.
